If you want to change the PHP version or use a newer PHP version for your domain, follow these steps:
- Log in to the cPanel control panel for the domain or hosting account.
- In the Software section, find Select PHP Version.
- Under Current PHP version, use the drop-down menu to select the desired PHP version and click Set as current. The PHP version is now changed.
NOTE: After changing the PHP version, the Server Information section may still show the server default PHP version rather than the version you selected. This is normal. You can verify the active version by placing a phpinfo.php file in your web space and checking the reported PHP version.
IMPORTANT: When changing the PHP version, it is also recommended to review PHP parameters that would otherwise be configured in php.ini, such as memory_limit and post_max_size. More information is available HERE. Also make sure there is no custom php.ini file in any directory under /public_html, because such a file may override settings changed in the control panel. We recommend placing phpinfo.php in the root directory of the website to verify the active PHP configuration.
